Beauty

“Do not let your adorning be external — the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear — but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” 1 Peter 3:3-4 ESV. When I read what a Godly woman should look like it really blows me away. We are supposed to be gentle and kind, as well as hard-working and diligent. Proverbs 31 goes on and on about the virtues of a woman who fears the Lord. Not only is it a lot to take in because it makes me realize just how lazy I am, but it amazes me that this is how God sees his daughters. “She is far more precious than jewels.” Proverbs 31:10. ESV “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.'” Proverbs 31:28-29 ESV. All of that sounds wonderful, but if you read in between you’ll see how hard we are supposed to be working. Being a woman of God does not come from idleness and laziness. “She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens. She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night.” Proverbs 31:15-18 ESV. The list goes on even further. What I’m saying is that a woman of God must be hard-working and selfless for His glory, but she will be blessed more than she could imagine. “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Giver her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.” Proverbs 31:30-31 ESV.
