Light of the Living God

As I was scrolling through Facebook one night I became so overwhelmed with the lack of Godliness in what I was reading. Sometimes it just hits you when read a random person’s conversation and they are completely spitting in God’s face. I can’t tell you how many times I have stopped going through social media and just prayed for this world and these people who will one day stand in front of God’s throne and it will be too late. It makes my heart break so much. That night, after praying for those people, I began reading the book of John from the beginning. I was immediately comforted when I read, “In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:4-5. It makes me so joyful knowing that we have the light of God living in us, and the darkness of this world can not overcome it. This world will never destroy God, no matter how hard it may try. Darkness can never overcome the bright light of our living God. As God’s children we do not have to fear the darkness. “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12. How could we even keep it to ourselves if we have this brilliant light inside of us? We shouldn’t! We should walk in the light, share about the light just like John, and we should be sons and daughters of the light. “So the crowd answered him, ‘ We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. How can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is the Son of Man?’ So Jesus said to them, ‘ The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not  know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” John 12:34-36.
